Amie graduated from NIDA in 2000 and spent a decade working as an actor in film, theatre, and TV. In 2002, she received the Jeffrey Joynton-Smith Memorial award and was nominated for a Sydney Theatre Award in 2007. Following her acting career, Amie focused on her cabaret persona, Ava Torch, performing many live gigs with her band. She released an EP titled “Some Torch Songs” and a full-length studio album called “Love Blood Cum.” Amie also produced cabaret and burlesque events, including Holly Follies, Winter Follies, and the Hillcrest Kabarett and Burlesque Festival. In 2011, her track “Put Your Clothes On” was featured in the Myer Autumn/Winter campaign.
Amie’s professional background extends beyond performing. She is a writer, graphic designer, band manager, songwriter, life model, and amateur art historian. She holds a Cert 4 in arts admin and has worked for various organizations, including Sound Heaven Studios, Big D Media, School Performance Tours, the fashion designer Elliot Ward Fear and as a teacher for the NIDA open program. Additionally, Amie has managerial experience in high-end retail, art galleries, fashion, hospitality, and antiques.
Throughout her career, Amie has embraced new experiences and sought to improve her technical skills and artistic process. She has an Advanced Diploma in screen and media from TAFE and remains up-to-date with the evolving media landscape, finding it a constant source of inspiration. Her diverse background in the creative and entertainment industries offers a unique perspective on production, content, and creative decision-making.
